‘Maids Volleyball Team are Looking to Improve

Brooklyn Golden, Staff Reporter

The Minutemaid volleyball team is currently 4-7 and looking to improve their record as they move into the backstretch of the season.

The ‘Maids defeated Braxton 3-0, winning the first match in a tight battle then propelling forward to dominate in the second and third matches to win the game.

“Our communication helps us to find success,” Abby Hartley, senior, said.

On Senior Night, the Maids, once again, won in three, defeating conference foe Clay County. The squad also won against Fairmont Senior and Notre Dame.

“I would say serving is one of our strengths,” Brooke Butcher, senior, said.

They have just come off a loss to Buckhannon-Upshur, losing in three consecutive matches. They also lost to Lincoln, Liberty, Phillip Barbour, Bridgeport, Grafton and Elkins.

“We are working on our attitudes to improve our gameplay,” Hartley said.

“We need to work on moving to get the ball,” Butcher said.

Although the spikers are below 500, they said they are improving each game and are working hard to give their best effort against future competitors.

“We are working on our attitudes and working together as a team to, hopefully, improve our season,” Butcher said.

“I think the rest of the season will be good, but also tiring,” Hartley said.

The ‘Maids will play Lincoln and Buckhannon-Upshur Wednesday the 20th at home.
