XC Trio Heads to States

Three LCHS runners are headed to the state cross country meet Oct. 28.

The LCHS girls’ cross country team narrowly missed competing at the state tournament Oct. 19.  The regional event lacked having one more team, or the girls’ would have qualified third and earned its first ever state tournament berth.

Pacing the girls were Senior Emily Louk and Junior Brooke Bennett claiming two Top 10 finishes for the XC ‘Maids.  Bennett finished 6th with Louk finishing 8th.  Both made Big 10 All-Conference teams earlier in the year and will compete at the state tournament at Cabell Midland, near Ona, WV.

The team comprised of Louk, Bennett, Sarah Flesher, Savanna King, Abby Oldaker, and Emily Herron placed fourth at the Region II Championship with a score of 91.

Also advancing to the state tournament is Freshman Jacob Moore.  Moore ran a 19:50.34 to qualify 11th.

The boys’ team finished 7th out of 11 teams.

They are coached by Master Sergeant Bill Linger.
