51st Commencement Set for Seniors

Tonight, members of the Class of 2017 will be conferred diplomas during the 51st Lewis County High School Commencement Ceremony May 26, 2017 at 7 p.m. Seniors said they were excited to participate in tonight’s events and what it represents for the graduates. Mr. Steve Casto , LC Superintendent, LC Board of Education members and LCHS administrators will sit on a stage and assist with the issuing of the diplomas. Graduates will enter to Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance” as performed by LCHS Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Allen Heath. Principal Mr. Derek Lambert will welcome those in attendance. The ceremony will begin with the presentation of the colors by the JROTC Cadets. Senior Alaina Hope class secretary, will offer the invocation and Mr. Dustin Cogar, assistant principal will introduce special guests. Senior Taylor McClain, class vice president, will make a special presentation, while Natalie Rogers, class president, will address her peers. Following her greetings, the band will play the “Alma Mater” while the seniors sing. The class valedictorian and salutatorian will give speeches. Seniors will present flowers to loved ones while a group of seniors sing the class song, “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds. Mr. John Whiston, assistant principal, is scheduled to present the candidates for graduation. Arikka Smith, treasurer, will offer the benediction with JROTC Cadets retiring the colors. Graduates will file out to “Pomp and Circumstance, Recessional” as played by the concert band.
