Thumbs Up and Down

Emily Lybarger, Reporter

  • Thumbs up to a New Year! As we get into the year, hopefully we will see better health and safety conditions for our entire world.
  • Thumbs up to the LCHS cheerleaders for placing 2nd at the AA Regional Cheerleading Competition earning their way to States which will be conducted in March.
  • Thumbs up to the entire LCHS staff for working so hard to provide the school and students with care and help during the COVID-19 pandemic. We appreciate all you do.
  • Thumbs down to winter and spring sports being delayed.
  • Thumbs up to a plan to return to school on January 19, 2021. Many of us can’t wait to be back in-person.
  • Thumbs down to COVID-19 and missing all the things we used to be able to do.
  • Thumbs up to our new gym bleachers!  While we were away, our gym has been renovated to include new and safer bleachers.
  • Thumbs down to no homecoming and no spirit week last semesterWe hope Student Council is able to get a modified Homecoming set up for second semester. We sure did miss this annual event last fall.
  • Thumbs up to many staff members receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Many of the vaccination clinics were conducted at the high school, and the process went smoothly for all who attended.
  • Thumbs up to Nurse Allison and Nurse Casey for working so hard to keep us safe. They go well beyond the call of duty to ensure our safety as well as the safety of our families and the community.
  • Thumbs up to the complete first semester. We are halfway there! Stay strong Minutemen!
  • Thumbs up to new cleaning supplies for the staff!
  • Thumbs up to YOU!  Yes, it’s been tough.  Maybe you have worked incredibly hard…maybe you haven’t worked much at all.  Maybe you were solid throughout all the challenges, maybe you cried your eyes out. Maybe you rocked your grades, maybe you barely passed. Maybe you rose to the challenge, maybe you barely saw clothing other than yoga pants and a wrinkled t-shirt. Regardless, you survived this unprecedented global health crisis. You survived things we only saw in science fiction movies.  You did it and will continue to survive because you are a Minuteman, and that is what we do.
