The girls’ soccer team currently stand 4-6-2 on the season.

The team is rebuilding following the loss of graduating seniors who led the team to a sectional championship as well finishing runners-up in the regional championship.

This year’s squad in is led by captain Carlee Burnside and coached by Mr. J.R. Dodson and Ms. Hannah Dodson.

The girls’ started strong with a 0-0 tie against Midland Trail at home. The team then rallied with back-to-back wins against Braxton and Frankfort. They tied 2-2 against Bridgeport Senior.

The team lost to Liberty, Fairmont Senior, Preston County, Robert C. Byrd, Grafton and South Harrison.

The  players said they are optimistic they can finish the season strong, though it will  be  tough  with  conference foes of Buckhannon-Upshur and Philip Barbour. They will take on two Marion County teams, North Marion and Fairmont East. They will also face out-of-conference Kanawha County teams  Capital and St. Albans.

Sectional play will begin  later this month.  The team hopes to make another appearance in the sectional championship.
