Girls’, Boys’ Soccer Advance to Regionals

‘Maids & Minutemen Capture Sectional Titles

Sectional Champs.  For the second time in three years, members of the LCHS girls’ soccer team have claimed a sectional title and the boys’ earned their first-ever sectional championship.

Both teams will vie for a state title berth Oct. 26.

The girls captured the title by defeating Elkins 3-2 with Penalty Kicks (PKs) Oct. 19.

At the end of regular play the ‘Maids were tied 0-0 with the Tigers.

The ‘Maids capitalized on the tie, making three penalty kicks with Elkins getting two.

The ‘Maids reached the title game by defeating South Harrison 3-0 Oct. 16.

They were led by senior leadership and veteran players.

The ‘Maids stand 10-8-1 for regular season play.

They are paced by seven seniors and several returning lettermen.

They are under the direction of Head Coach J.R. Dodson and Assistant Coach Keenan Moreta

The boys’ soccer team started their march for a sectional title with a 1-0 win over Phillip Barbour Oct. 18.  They defeated Elkins 3-2 Oct. 21.

The team stands 12-6-2 on the year winning their first game of sectional play.

The boys are paced with a young team featuring only one senior.
