Building 429 Visits Lewis County

Faith Messenger

On Sunday, October 22, Building 429 preformed at the High School, along with Chris August and Josh Wilson. Building 429 began in 1999 after their lead singer, Jason Roy, was injured in his first years of college playing basketball. He soon realized what his true passion was, singing and inspiring others. After he was kicked out of his home by his mother because “music is not a real job”, he traveled from Texas to North Carolina where the band’s story begins.

Ever since the release of their initial album in 2005, Jason Roy, Micheal Anderson, Jesse Garcia and Aaron Branch have worked endlessly and devotedly to restore the faith community where their popular songs Where I Belong and We Won’t Be Shaken. The band performs an average of 150 shows a year. They’re performance involves stand up, sing along, worship-worthy music. After performing in the 2014/15 WinterJam, which was over 600,000 fans, the band headlined their own tour, joined by Women of Faith. Even after performing in hundreds of cities and selling over a million singles, the band feels they are only beginning on the power they’ve created. They have traveled all over the world; they’ve been to Germany, Canada, South America and Africa.

We were just in Norway this summer, I got to go to that one, it was pretty cool.

— Micheal Anderson

Building 429 was nominated for three Dove Awards at the 36th GMA Dove Awards: Song of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Rock/Contemporary Record Song of the Year.

They won a Dove Award for Song of the Year. They have also been nominated for the Grammy’s.
