Spring Sports Underway

Spring Sports are underway at LCHS with baseball, softball, tennis and track seasons beginning.
It kicked off with the LCHS baseball and softball teams playing away against South Harrison on Mar. 20.
The baseball team started the season with a W against South Harrison with final score of 11-4. The Minutemen finished the game with 10 hits and Luke White, pitcher, got the win and 3 RBI’s. Junior Jared Skinner had the save. The game featured a solid team hitting and fielding.
The Minutemen fell 2-1 in the home-opener against state-ranked Braxton County. The Minutemen had runners in scoring position to tie the game but fell short. Pitchers for the Minutemen were Cole Barker and Jacob Moneypenny.
The softball team took the victory over South Harrison finishing with a score of 11-9. Freshman Payton Cambell and Senior Alexis Rumbach each had over the fence home runs to help the ‘Maids secure the win. Junior Alexis Hudson had the win at the mound for the team.
The Maids followed with a home win against Braxton 9-3 with a solid team effort in the field and in hitting.
The track team will be traveling to Buckhannon-Upshur on Mar. 28 for their first meet, and the tennis team will play their first match on Mar. 27 against Liberty.
