First in state.

LCHS was selected as the first state EQT Hands-On CPR school.

Students in Mrs. Christie Lybarger’s Healthcare Fundamentals class served as student leaders.  The students demonstrated the new technique which is now going to be incorporated into graduation requirements for all WV students.

EQT leaders and WV State Department officials were complimentary of our school’s band, students and staff.

Mr. Christopher Derico, LCBOE Administrator, welcomed dignitaries and students to the assembly on behalf of the entire Lewis County Central Office personnel.

Dignitaries were complimentary of the band which accompanied the demonstration.  The band played Guns and Roses, “Sweet Child of Mine” which mimics the beat pattern needed for chest compressions.

“We would like to take the band to all our schools,” the EQT representative told nearly 200 in attendance.

Students said they hope CPR certification will help save lives.

The new technique is in response for the need to increase the pace of chest compressions.  The Hands-On technique does not require the CPR administrator to breath into the victim’s mouth.

Pictured are students demonstrating the technique as the band plays to help with the rate and pace of the chest compressions.
